Detroit 5, Montreal 4

I, for one, am simply beside myself with excitement now that baseball is back in session. Couple that with the impending March Madness in college basketball and you have yourself the best month of every year. The Tigers kicked off their pre-season in fashion with a victory over the Expos. For the record, I'm not one of those fans of a sub-par team that puts loads of faith into every measely spring training victory. This one is no exception to that rule. A closer look at the boxscore reveals that all four runs were yielded by Pat Mahomes. Yes, the very same Pat Mahomes who holds a 5.47 career ERA. Likewise, 3 of Montreal's 4 runs came off of Ariel Prieto. Either of these two would be very lucky to break camp which is why you have to take a closer look and see not only who did the damage, but against whom did they do it. A couple of positives stuck out from the game, too, namely Nate Cornejo's two no-hit innings. Fans also have to love seeing Pudge smack two hits in the opener.
